hi Nwella and Larache!
British accent is of course easy to recognize .. I think everybody can recognize the differnce between southern England accent and the funny northern Britain accent ... but in urban US accents it's much more difficcult to recognize the differences.. I don't really can do it very easily... LA and NY are for example nearly the same... because of the media and the movies ... there is only the jargon or some street language that makes the difference between LA and NY... you have to live in the US in order to know them.!!! what I can easily recognize is the Texas accent. I have always the impression that however US and Canada have the same accent ... Canadians are more polite and don't speak loudly .. Americans always tend to speak loudly and in a less polite way!!!!

There is often a Canadian accent that can be distinguished from the many accents that can be found in North America. Some cities in states that closely border Canada also have similar accents to those regarded as Canadian. That probably goes without saying. Point being, the Northern Americans that I'm familiar with can easily identify a Canadian accent.
