English accents

Can you people recognize the several North American accents and pronunciations? do you have this ability? to distinguish Californian.. Texas.. Oregon.. NY.. Florida.. Chicago... Canadian!

American english is largely homogenous but not 100% !

for the British accents it's veeery easy to notice the distinctions and differences in pronunciation!

in BBC they showed once a survey that said poeple who speak with a northern British/English accent can be seen as untrustworthy .. and can hardly find jobs in London .. southern English accent (London) is liked and accepted worldwide!!!!!!

i prefer north american accent than british accent...i actually hate british accent

but i can't tell california's from new yorker's.. but i can tell if the speaker is black or white

wow! so my accent is accepted and liked worldwide thats good to know. I think it is quite easy to tell the difference between the north american accents but it can sometimes get confusing how about you amazigh man can you tell the difference?

British accent is of course easy to recognize .. I think everybody can recognize the differnce between southern England accent and the funny northern Britain accent ...

but in urban US accents it's much more difficcult to recognize the differences.. I don't really can do it very easily... LA and NY are for example nearly the same... because of the media and the movies ... there is only the jargon or some street language that makes the difference between LA and NY... you have to live in the US in order to know them.!!!

what I can easily recognize is the Texas accent.

I have always the impression that however US and Canada have the same accent ... Canadians are more polite and don't speak loudly .. Americans always tend to speak loudly and in a less polite way!!!!

Hmmm, People in England who have a northern accent are seen as more trustworthy across the UK. Whilst Londoners are seen to be over sensitive but at the same time lacking warmth. These are generalisations of course, but popular ones. In addition, the next town or area of a city could have a different accent. Doesn't a Meknese accent differ from a Casa one.....

There is often a Canadian accent that can be distinguished from the many accents that can be found in North America. Some cities in states that closely border Canada also have similar accents to those regarded as Canadian. That probably goes without saying. Point being, the Northern Americans that I'm familiar with can easily identify a Canadian accent.
