Houda-K - cheers!

Thanks Houda! welcome aboard! We should be able to extend your vocabulary in no time, since you seem to have some foundation. In fact you could help set up a virtual learning community of Moroccan Arabic.

I'll kick off with some basic words for the benefit of those who know little or no Arabic.

Ahlan (hello)
labas (literally: are you alright? but often used as hello)
Kidair (how are you for male)
Kidaira (how are you for a female)

B'slama (goodbye)

MoMo

Assalam Alaikoum Khoya ~MoMo~

Choukrane for your reply.

I’m half Magribiya, so I have the basic foundation of the darija welakeen my conversation when talking to Magarba is somewhat restricted.

Insha Allah please do continue with this thread, and hopefully we’ll see some old faces in due course. Happy posting !

As for setting up a “virtual learning community of Moroccan Arabic.” How do you propose I do that ?

B’slama / Wa Salam

Because when we take our vacance fil le bled we would like to have a more intellectual conversation with our extended family. Rather than the limited one of : Labas ? Koulchi Labas ? Khadma mezyan - al~humduillah.

You get my drift ?

As for Arabia foursha. One step at a time sidi, wakha ?.

Ok, lets back to the topic with Oustad MoMo.

Houda, I thinks it's good that you conversations with people back home is limited. You are lucky. Be careful with what you wish for once you learn thier language, you will learn their problems labass and Hamdoulah is all you want to share. Trust me after that, money will be next topic
