How does Islam view genetic engineering and cloning, etc.?

Here's something I've been wondering for a while; I have seen how many Christians - especially conservative Christians - strongly object to things like genetic engineering and cloning and such, and they give mainly theological reasons for that.

And that made me wonder; exactly how do Muslims view these controversial issues?
