It was good but I think all the muslims shown on it were Salafi muslims living in Luton...So all in all it was good, I watched a couple of episodes...
But to be honest I still do not get all these labels for muslims, Salafi, Wahabi etc etc etc why cant we all just be called Musilms...too much division between us...Shiah is another topic all on its own. Quote:

I think they had mentioned in the programme that some of them were Salafi... when they talked about not celebrating children birthdays and having pictures up on the walls.
I thought it was quite lovely programme to watch over the Ramadan period - but it was a bit of a shame it was on so late!

I saw one episode. Showed a female convert speaking with her family and how they felt about it. They discussed birthdays at one point too I think. Also showed some brothers getting ready to go to Pakistan to help with the Relief Effort. And another convert who was getting ready to go to Saudi Arabia (to teach English was it??). Interesting stuff & good to show converts too because it shows that the faces of Islam iare not what some people might think they are
![]() Its a shame it wasnt on earlier to get a wider audience. |

There was also the other Muslimah revert - who has written a book (I really can't remember the title) - She has appeared on TV on many occasions and talked about how she came to Islam and to wear the Niqaab - she seems to be a really lovely woman - but I still can't over the feeling I have in watching a Niqaab wearing woman talking - it is so weird, because the mouth and facial expression can't be seen and I think it is that which I find needs getting used to.. this is no slight against what she choses to do - but I still find it quite bizarre! and I am a Muslim, so I wonder how non Muslim perceive such an image?
I know she is taking advantage of the media, with appearing on TV and writing an autobiography, to gain an acceptance from others toward women such as herself, who wear Niqaab; because it is such a rare thing to see a Niqaab wearing woman being on TV and being so chatty and open... it is refreshing - but again, it looks bizarre - I hope anyone watching that programme who is not Muslim felt they had learned that such women who totally cover up, can possess an interesting personality and charisma. |
