Over One Million People Are Left without Homes by Hurricane Katrina, Islamic Relief Pledges $2 Million in Relief Aid

The Katrina Hurricane disaster has thus far left over one million people displaced and will require the largest relief effort in U.S. history.

Islamic Relief has pledged $2 million to aid in relief efforts for victims who have fled to Mobile, AL, Baton Rouge, LA, and Houston, TX.

In Houston, Islamic Relief is working in coordination with the Muslim community in the city to help over 25,000 victims. In addition to Islamic Relief staff working on the ground, over 700 volunteers are being mobilized to aid in the relief efforts.



Islamic Relief is working with many different organizations and faith-based groups to gather emergency relief supplies. In addition, Islamic Relief has received offeres of discounted supplies from several businesses for the relief efforts.
