salam
As soon as the red colour disapears from the sky usually between 45 minutes to one hour after the sunset in other word as soon as it looks a bit darker. Some Madhab say about 5 minutes after Maghreb other allow 45 minutes as minimum, however in any prayer the best time is the first third except Isha as our prophet(SWAS) said eat dinner first then pray

There is a Hadith in Bukhari that our Prophet (SAW) used to at times combine Zuhr/Asr and Maghrib/Isha even when he was not in state of fear or travel while resident at Medina.

I sometimes combine Zuhr/Asr at my job.

I can find the exact hadith later.. but right now this is an interesting link:

However You do get much more benefit when you pray each prayer seperately.

Thanks for the link I will inshallah study it with due care.
Just to remind everyone about two most important times that we muslims are told to avoid. When the sun is just Raising and when the sun is setting. these two times which are about 5 minutes each are the times when Satan is worshipped and we muslims are not allowed to pray even if offering a Funeral prayer.

you can combine the prayers zohor-asr, magrib-isyak only when one is a 'musaffir' for a purpose other than for pleasure..
