Salma Yaqoob is a very accomplished political speaker, and as far as I know a professional therapist. I've seen her speak before, and read a couple of the things she's written.

Of course, as an MP she'd have a second full time career. So being a mother is actually just one of the many talents of someone who is a political activist, already holds down one job and may well have another soon.

Whether she'll win or not is another matter. Personally I rather doubt it, as Respect aren't a very serious political party. I'm not familiar with the constituency but if it's anything like the rest of urban Britain I'd guess that Talib Hussein (the Lib Dem guy from the article)
has a good chance.
