jeff jumping on religion issues alateef !

salam
you are not going to tell the sisters what makes them feel comfortable or not..
where a women in the past !?

with all respect you are crossing the lines..when you dispute the verses of the quran..because telling them is an order..but the lord is merceful not rude..showing manners to his messengers how to communicate with his wives and his sisters ..our mothers..
i only support you on ur google researchs as i do not see what could be wrong with it..unless it is taken from the wrong place..such as anti-islam webs..which could have hatful views..
be aware not to offend your brothers and sisters jeff!
allah yahdeena weyahdeek
maasalama!

Thank you Houda, Ghazala, you see...The verse says to tell them, and not to order them. It doesn't state women HAVE TO wear it, but just it is better for them to hide their beauty, which many respectful women do without having to wear the whole traditional Hijab.
A Muslim woman’s dress is essentially based on modesty and decency, to prevent ALL causes of SEDUCTION. So, no tight fitting clothing that reveals a woman’s figure.

As a man you have NO idea how a woman feels wearing hijab in the heat. I’ve been wearing hijab for nearly a decade, so why not ask me ?

As for the daleel, I suggest you re~read it :

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters AND THE WOMEN OF THE BELIEVERS to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognized and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.”

Having worn hijab for over a decade, in the heat in Marrakech, Dubai, Sydney, Wellington, Fiji, & L.A. I can say it was fine, I didn't feel uncomfortable or at unease with the weather at all.

I have to say, I feel cooler than before. It may be the fact skin is shielded from the sun by cooling cotton. Take a look at villagers coming to town wearing layer upon layer of clothing. Or Sahrawis. They feel cooler than others

Salam
An Iranian school girl is quoted as saying, "We want to stop men from treating us like sex objects, as they have always done. We want them to ignore our appearance and to be attentive to our personalities and mind. We want them to take us seriously and treat us as equals and not just chase us around for our bodies and physical looks." A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.
