Thumbs down

By Steve Little
CBN News Producer

CBN.com – (CBN News) - An Australian legal tribunal has found two Christian pastors guilty of vilifying Islam. The pastors say they are the victims of an unjust law that muzzles free speech.

The judge ruled that a seminar on Islam, held by pastor's Daniel Scot and Danny Nalliah, was hostile and demeaning to Muslims. But Scot and Nalliah say they will keep fighting, by appealing their case in federal court. They hope a judge will strike down Victoria state's Racial and Religious Tolerance Act.

The controversial law allows a person to sue if he feels he has been humiliated by another because of race or religion.

Nalliah says it is being used to silence the church.

And this law and issue will not simply stop Christian ministries from speaking against the Koran, but it will stop Christian ministries from speaking against sin.

As CBN News first reported last year, a Muslim group in Victoria used the law to sue the pastors over the seminar that was held in a church in 2002. But three Muslims slipped into the seminar. And they took offense when Scot used the Koran to prove that its teachings support holy war against non-Muslims.

When Scot and Nalliah refused to apologize for preaching what they say is the truth, the case went to court where it dragged on for more than a year, costing the pastors more than $200,000 in legal fees before the judge issued his ruling last week.

Their penalty could include fines up to $30,000, and another order to apologize.

Nalliah says they will not comply, even if it means going to jail.

The pastors said that if that happens, they are ready to go to jail. They say they will not apologize nor pay a fine, if there is a fine imposed.

The penalty will be issued in late January.

1) I thought Islam viewed the world as being split between dar al islam and dar al harb.

2) A link was posted here once to a recording of speech given in English by a popular imam, this guy called non-muslims "infidels", every one was an Infidel, the American infidels, the Mexican infidels, the Canadian infidels etc. Not one person on this forum said a word about this.

To be truthful I don't remember, this was last year I think, or even earlier, it was a site that carried a recording of this sheikh's sermon. I had a conversation about this in the Islam thread with Ftoma, a member who hasn't posted here for a long time.

You can find extreme comments from anywhere. I have not read in the Quran about dar-ul-harb. There are 100s of thousands of 'sheikhs' out there though..

But I have read Zionist comments about Muslims and Palestinians all the time. Implicit and explicit. And I also see what the Zionists and Western nations have done to kill and humiliate an entire nation of Palestinians and now deprive them of their very homeland.

One also sees now how 100,000 Iraqis have been killd in just one year in Iraq and who the biggest cheerleaders are for this campaign.
