Salaam everyone...

Is the Hadith part of Islamic teaching?
If so, why do some Muslim sects reject the Hadith altogether,
calling it a "book of superstitions"?

Looking forward to your replies.

Peace Be Unto Everyone

Salaam, I don't think I've spoken to u before.

Hadith is an integral part of the Islamic faith, as it contains the Prophet SAW's teachings on a practical basis. Muslims live by the Koran and the example of the Prophet SAW's way of life (which is contained in hadith).

Hadith however has to be authentic sahih (and as far as I know Sahih Bukhari and Muslim are authentic sources as they confirm the actual thread of the hadith).

There is a hadith where the Prophet SAW said that there will be 73 sects of Islam and only one will be correct. When asked which one he replied the one that he and his companions follow. So a true Muslim should strive to follow Koran and sahih hadith.

And Allah knows best.

Salaam Anonymous...

I thank you for your prompt reply.
You do know me, but as the other role on this forum...

I know quite abit on Islamic doctrines
and history since i've studied it before during my search for God.
How does one know which Sunnah from which Hadith is authentic?
Since they all claim to be authentic anyway.

Out of the 73 sects of Islam,
the Sunni's claim they are the one true heir to the Prophet's teachings.
So do the Shi'ites
So which is being truthful?

I'll be looking forward to your replies.
Will be back later.
Peace Be Unto You

I can only tell you what I know. I know authentic sunnah based on the source that it was collected from . Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are widely accepted as authentic as each and every person that reported the hadith can be 1) traced 2) validated. There was a time when Muslims would travel thousands of miles to authenticate hadiths. These Sunnah are recorded in Bukhari and Muslim.

In my mind there is no Sunni, Shia, etc. No sects. Just plain Muslim. waht does Muslim mean ? Following KORAN and AUTHENTIC SUNNAH.

So following that definition Sunni Islam is Islam in its pure form - not that I'm favoring Sunni, just being objective.

Re: Re: Salaam Anonymous...

Thank you for your replies Anonymous.
But the Sunni's and Shi'ites have always eyed on each other with great suspicion and consider each other as not true "Muslims".

Tell me, what do you think of the Tirmidhi,
an-Nasai, Ibn Majaal-Kulini, al-Babuya al-Qummi, and al-Tusi?
Do you consider them authentic as well?

Is it Haram in Islam to reject the Hadith as a source of authority, as i understand it's viewed as second only to the Qur'an?

Peace Be Unto You
