I really don't know what your talking about. If a mortgage is haram then why the hell do so many muslim people choose to have one?! must they all rot in hell because they don't want to rent for the rest of their lives.
If getting a mortgage is haram then book me a ticket to the hell fire cos i am certainly getting one. I would rather 'sin' that way then get completely drunk or stoned every week.
Stop telling us whats right or wrong, if Khalid wants to try a mortgage then let him. Your not going to live with him so why is it your business?
Quite frankly i find you rude, patronizing and a bore.
You are not a wonderful or perfect muslim so don't preach to us. At the end of the day I probably know more about Islam than you.

One more thing. Don't be sarcastic when it comes to my sister, because you will have me to deal with.

I don't think Houda was being sarcastic or rude in the slightest. She's not preaching to anyone, Mortgages are Haram, and the Ayat have been provided to prove that. As Muslims we should enjoin in right and forbid evil, and that's all she's done. If everyone is going to get up in alms everytime one part of the faith is neglected and someone corrects them on it, then whats the use of Da3wa?

So what if lots of 'Muslims' get mortgages? Lots of 'Muslims' go out clubbing, drinking and fornicating. Does that mean that we all should follow in their example? You can't pick and choose what part of the religion to follow. If something has been prohibited, then it's Haram. No justifications will suffice.

There are other ways of maintaining a Muslim home, and renting is one of them. At the end of the day why sacrfice the Hereafter for the life of this world? If it is too much to live in this country, then as Muslims we should make hijrah to a more affordable Muslim country.

Wa Salam

If i see the proof with my own two eyes I will gladly eat my words but I can't see the big deal with mortgages.
Some people don't want to rent, either they don't feel secure or for some other reason.
At the end of the day I won't condemn someone for getting a mortgage. I won't condemn someone for drinking until their liver packs in. I won't condemn someone for selling their grandma to buy drugs because its not my place.
Allah (SWT) will judge them all and no matter what i say won't give a blind bit of difference.
I doubt we will burn in hell for getting a mortgage along with the druggies, rapists and muderers.
It 'may' be a sin but its one I would rather have under my belt then being a bad person with a black heart.
We all sin, we cannot escape from it all the time.

I do respect ur opinion but I also have my own. I guess we won't agree on this matter.

I understand if Houda is your friend and you want to stick up for her because i would do the same but I don't like her and i never have.
She has an arrogant tone and she forces her opinion on people until they see things her way.
But that's her way I guess....

Asalamu alaikum,

O you who believe! Fear Allaah and give up what remains (due to you) from Riba (from now onward) if you are (really) believers.

And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums)”

[al-Baqarah 2:278-279]

Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his Tafseer (2/657):

“This is a stern warning and a threat to those who persist in dealing in riba after having been warned. Ibn Jurayj said: Ibn ‘Abbaas said: ‘Take a notice of war’ means, be certain of war from Allaah and His Messenger… and it was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: It will be said on the Day of Resurrection to the one who consumed riba: ‘Take up your weapon for war.’ Then he recited (interpretation of the meaning):

‘And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger’

[al-Baqarah 2:279].”

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the one who records it and the two who witness it, and he said: “They are all the same.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1598).

There isnt any room for personal opinion with such clear evidence from the Quran and Ahadith. Who dares to wage war with Allah SWT and His Messenger?!!!!

Wasalam.

who said anything about waging war?!

Besides, like i said, i will rather sin that way then be an alcoholic or drug addict.
I'm not perfect and neither is anyone else.

Allah swt, says the one who is involved in riba has waged a war between himself and Allah & His Messenger. It's in the verse from the Quran that I posted.

No-one is talking about being perfect, but that shouldnt stop us from striving to be the best Muslims we can.
