Thumbs up

Salam Khtee Houda,

Renting a 2 bedroom flat in lets say a zone 2 area in London, you are looking at £180 per week min, which monthly adds up to £720 plus council tax etc etc...
To try and get a council flat its takes over 5 years and you need kids etc etc to a place...and you need to go to bed & breakfasts etc etc, yes its cheaper but its very hard to get a place...
I would like rent sis but as you can see it adds up, ok you can live further out of london, but its abit cheaper but what you save on rent goes on transport and other things, wallah i am so lost in this whole matter...

Houda, Are islamic mortgages haram too? Ive heard many people say yes and no...

Sabah el Kheire

Zone 3 area is cheaper and some flats include rent and bills together so you just pay one fee.

Look Khalid, not all sisters live in cloud 9 and are as demanding as the ones you’ve met and don’t all want to sit at home and be a baby machine.

There are sisters out there in full time employment who understand the realities of life and are more than willing to help their husbands financially BUT will not be taken advantage of to the extent of their husbands solely relying on their wife’s income.

Yes, in Islam the husband’s responsibilty is to provide finaacially for his wife but giving the fitnah in this world and high living standards in London we all need to help our brothers and sisters.

It’s all about team work that’s what being part of the Muslim Ummah is about.

Wa Salam

Cool

Sabah el Nour...

Zone 3 is cheaper, inshallah I will look into it and look into the islamic mortgage thing abit more, i dont have too much knowledge about it, but I think they ask too much of big deposit! not sure if its haram.

I know not all sisters are on cloud 9, but as you its a man responsibility to look after his family etc, and yes a sister can help if she is willing and able inshallah and YES there are many men who take advantage of there wives by letting them work and them sit there butts at home! HARAAM!!!

looool @ baby machine!!

Can’t think of what Good Afternoon is in Arabic………….. Never mind

Assalam Alaikoum Khalid,

HOORAY we’re now we’re on the same wave length.

It’s all a matter of perspective and finding a spouse who will encourage you to do good and disprove of you doing or considering haram, nothings impossible and may Allah reward us all with a spouse who will be a garment for our souls – Ameen !

Wa Salam

Ive read several things on this & discussed the issue with my dad many times. Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation of course, but the conclusion we came to is that mortgages are not haram. This is supported by a number of scholars.

Khalidz, I will let you have the stuff to read over yourself

Btw, whats with the 'some sisters are too demanding' thing?

Salaam
I still think common sense tell us that Mortgage is haram but love to know more.
The Qur'an (2:276) says: " Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury," and in 2:278 reminds the Muslims: "O ye who believe, keep your duty to Allah and relinquish what remains (due) from interest, if you are believers."
The Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) forbade usury. One of the better-known ahadith, narrated by Ibn Mas'ud, quotes the Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam), saying, "Allah has cursed the receiver, the giver of the interest and also the witness and the scribe of the interest-bearing transaction; they are alike." (Muslim, Tirmidhi).
