Question: What style of makeup do most Moroccan women wear? Does it matter if they've chosen to wear hijab? I think most people think of heavy eyeliner, very "exotic" looking. My husband's sister's older pictures fit that exotic style, particularly her wedding pictures, which are gorgeous! But her more recent pictures, since wearing hijab, have been very light on makeup, maybe a little lipstick but nothing else. Do makeup styles follow European and/or American, or are they different?

The make-up styles differ according to location & social status etc. More chance of more Western styles in big cities. There are a lot of very trendy young Moroccan.
Smaller towns are usually where you see the worst make-up & hair styles..... blonde is still tops with some people but each to their own. |

Wow... interesting... even as a used-to-be-a-natural-blond-until-my-mid-20's, I wouldn't expect that blond would be a big hit in Morocco. And 2-tone lips? yikes! not what I was expecting! At the very least, I'm guessing that my simple beige-on-beige makeup routine and light-brown-with-a-little-dark-blond-and-reddish-in-there hair won't be a huge shock.
Just please don't make me wear lip liner! ![]() |

You can wear your hair & make-up anyway you like Gingersnap. Anything goes.
Some people like to shovel it on, some people like to keep it simple. It's the same in most North African & Middle Eastern countries. A lot of people love dramatic make-up ![]() |
