Brides are usually hot & miserable after being prodded by negafats & family members. Thats usually the reason for screwed up faces.
Again with bridal make-up, its taste. The geisha look is popular & always will be no doubt........

No women don't 'make up' for men, I like to look good & take pride in my apppearance... I rarely wear lipstick, I prefer Khol & a bit of eye shadow...

some women in Morocco do over do it with make up but thats their prerogative.

As for wedding make up- blame the zeeyanat they made my cousin (whos dark skinned) look like a chinese doll I've heard of zeeyanat telling brides to avoid the sun before their wedding as a bride should be white If I get married in Morocco I won't hire a zeeyana & would like to be tanned

How old are you Larache4eva? you sound young

Good on you Anisa , I had a cousin who got a tan just before her wedding, and she has hazel eyes. One of her outfits was orange and gold, this was in the late 90s thou hehe, and it brought out her tan and she glowed mashallah. i do not like that white stuff, alhamduallah the zeeyana didnt pt it on me in my wedding, but than again we didnt use a zeeyana from Larache. You know the typical blue eye shadow and red lippy hehe, that was what i was dreading.

This is fascinating for me, really. As an American, my only experience with Moroccan wedding fashion is my husband's sister's wedding pics. Now, keep in mind that this was mid-80's (a bad fashion era, admittedly!) but she's naturally gorgeous too. Her makeup and jewelry is over-the-top, but very exotic... red lips, heavy (but pretty) eyeliner, "sparklies" around her eyes. Amazing gold and pearl jewelry that I don't even know the names for! Her wedding pictures are beautiful!

No white skin in sight, though. She's naturally olive-skinned-- was more tanned in wedding photos than in current pix, now that that she no longer swims in public. Is this white look that you're talking about sort of a Japanese kabuki makeup kind of trend? Is it new, or very traditional?

Hubby's family has talked about a Moroccan wedding for us there when we get there, even though we had a wedding here in US in May 2005. Aside from cool henna tattoos, anything else fun I would have to look forward to? Do I get eye sparklies and great jewelry? I'm up for any chance to be pwetty!

You can choose what you like. It's just a question of letting them know what you like & not allowing someone to boss you into doing something you don't like. My negaffa did a good job but I refused all the usual nonsense make-up trends they love to offer
