Salaams sis! Happy Monday

So I made my way to Rush this weekend Mixed experience...

First the positive.... The colour is FABULOUS!!! So vibrant and perfectly suited! Alex (art director) gave me fabulous advice on what would look good following on my natural colour (having colored my hair in years!), what would make me look healthy etc (don't we all look a bit pasty following the long winter )

Now the negative.. the cut!! I hate it! I suppose its my own fault cos I decided on a long sleek bob before hand but when I got there I took Alex's advice and went for this trendy cut. Its layered (front and back) with shorter layers in my face. I just feel like its not me. Also its alot on maintenance cos I need to ghd the layers outwards to suit the cut. So not really a wash and go hairstyle!

My hubby loves it though . I told him a you (i.e. a Moroccan) recommended the salon and he said "Moroccans have style"

Perhaps I just need to get use to the cut. Either that or keep the hijab on for my nieces party this Saturday

Salam sis, I was thinking about you all weekend wondering how you got on!! Pleased to hear you love the colour - what did you get?? Sorry to hear you're not that enthralled with the cut Maybe it'll just take a bit of getting used to?? I'm always a bit unsure about my hair after I get it done, but then when I start getting compliments and I get a bit more comfortable with then it's all good! I'm sure it suits you hbiba, and if you're husband likes it then it must be great! I'm only saying that because Moroccans don't mince their words, and if he didn't like it I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate in telling you it wasn't right for you!

Is Alex the guy with blonde choppy hair, a bit of a Bon Jovi look alike???

No Alex is female (should be short for Alexandra?). She has an Aussie/ New Zealand accent. Quite attractive with brown hair and copper highlights. She's quite young and trendy. Had her hair up with these layers in her face. She said I could do mine like that too. I saw the Bon Jovi look alike prancing around the salon. I assumed he was Andrew Heasman?

Yeah I suppose I will get used to the cut. I am just worried that , becuase of the front and back layers, it will take alot of work to look salon-perfect whereas a bob would have been a 5-minute job.

I had a treatment too. The condition is fabulous. Hope it will stay that way. I bought the treatment they used on me too. I am sucker No, just kidding, actually I asked for it cos I wanted to continue using at home.

Color, I went darker. So its like a deep medium brown with lighter bits (close to my natural in the front). Its lovely and very vibrant, not falt colous at all!

Your directions were spot on , thanks! Mutton dressed as lamb was there Heavy foundation, cerise lipstick, and a skirt fir for a 16 year old

Anon,
Cuts like that always take time to get used to & I tend to feel better about layers after they've grown a bit. Sounds nice & if hubby likes it, can only be good

I haven't had mine so much as trimmed since Eid & boy is it out of shape I fancied something shorter but (a) my beloved loves long hair & (b) hijab flattens pretty much any style anyway. I'm not big on FAN fringes

I'm not keen on fringes either! I don't have a fringe. my shortest layers are those in front and they reach my chin. I can make a sidepath and sweep the front layer across my forehead to the back of my ear and that looks good (she showed me a few styles I could do).

I wear hijab most of the time too, but when I take it off I topple my hair upside down and run my hands roughly through it to take away the flatness On weekends when I am home with my boy and we get quite a bit of guests I don't wear hijab so I have to have a nice cut.

If you wanted to keep your length (for the man, very important) than just have it trimmed and shaped and tell the hairdresser that u want no more than an inch off. That way u keep the length and improve the condition.

Gotta work now!

Have a great day!

Talking The lank effect

I know it all too well

Will trot down for a cut this week Inshallah. I don't get that many split ends, its just that it grows out of shape

Ok, must work too - enjoy your day!

Sorry for the delay in reply - had to go on an errand to Whitehall for my manager! It seems I've been promoted to office gopher

Anon - yeah the Bon Jovi fairy did my hair the last time...I didn't catch his name the last time, haha. He was good because he doesn't make chit chat like many of the others....maybe because he's a pretty boy he's not mentally programmed to multi task His work is good though, so can't complain. The last time I saw Andrew he had a skin head! The last lady I had do my colour was Marie, she was Aussie too and sounds just like Alex...very nice girl. I don't think she still works there though...?

LOL you saw Mutton! She just rubs me up the wrong way, I don't know why...
