Does anyone know if salon hair products really are better than the stuff you get on the high street? Every time I go the hairdressers I end up leaving with a bag of hair products that I have been promised are better than anything I can get in Boots? Is this so.. because I can't really see much of a difference apart from the nice smell and the huge hole left in my pocket.

Thumbs down No difference

I'm a fan of buy 1 get 1 offers so that is how i usually decide what shampoo & conditioner I'm using. To be honest, I've done the Kerastase/Wella/whatever thing & never noticed a difference. At least not a difference that I would want to spend that much money on.

Shampouan is Shampouan as my mum says

I alternate between Charles Worthington and John Frieda (which can also be bought at high street stores these days) and I can really tell the difference compared to other products.

My sis used Regis (salon) and then went to Pantene (high street) and said her hair felt brittle. So she went back to Regis.

So I vote for salon products, honest!

Oh, actually, if we're talking haircare, I never thought I would swap FrizzEase but the Brilliant Brunette serum is EVEN better.

Thanks girls. I'm not talking about the difference between Salon stuff and Elvive and Herbal essence etc… but Salon stuff and designer stuff in the shops like John Freida, Trevor Sorbie , Umberto Giannini etc. I spent £30 on Redken Shampoo, Conditioner and Serum and I'm not sure it was worth it. They smelt bloody nice and I did go back for more but now that my last batch has ran out I have found myself using the Trevor Sorbie left overs I have in my bathroom and to be honest… not much difference! The woman at the salon said the Salon products have better quality ingredients as with their hair dyes etc!

Well I'm sure my hair colour looks nicer - or am I falling for the marketing?

Seriously, have been using it since the summer & its less greasy but makes hair just as glossy as the original.
