Oh, that’s cruel Sister~A~ well in the small Aroubia places on the outskirts of the cities{places, I won’t even mention;}

But, R’abat, Tangier, Meknes, oh and Fes, the make up, and the attire is so chic and eloquent at the weddings.

lol...Houda I did not mean to be cruel Wallah. Moroccan women are so beautiful, I am always depressed when I see the brides made up at weddings. I actually feel like going over and scraping off the foundation with a scalpel

Fes!!!!!!!! My hubby is from Fes!!! Went there for 3 weddings last summer, the brides were made up awful!!

French Moroccan brides are buff. My cousin in law from France got married last summer. Neutral make-up, gorgeous taksheta, she looked like a dream

Oh last summer, we went to a wedding in the countryside close to Fes. It was totally posh. They had these huge tent and girls dancing etc. But with all that expense the brides make-up was cakey (and she is a VERY beautiful girl naturally).

Talking Its the brides fault.............

Negaffats can be controlled - after all they are there to make you look how YOU want to look. Noone has to put up with looking like a China doll.

Sometimes I think some negaffats deliberately make people up to look terrible - they don't have the same circus make-up on their faces as the bride now do they? I had this once in Tanger. We all went to get our hair & makeup done for a wedding. I took my turn last (like to see if someone'e any good before letting them loose on me ). Anyway, everyone else had lovely hairdos but the semi-circus makeup look & didnt complain. I didn't pay good money (she wasnt cheap) for someone to make me look awful (even if she did buy the 'decor' for her salon from Spania ). Anyway, after her making some biiitch comments about this 'isnt how its done in maghreb wa hna mashi nssara' - she did everything just right. Funny how being gently bossed about makes people 'remember' how to do their job properly.

Anyway, what i wanted to say is that if a bride has been made up too much, she has AGREED to it so its her fault.

You are right Ghazala, it is the brides fault. But I think some women have no guts to speak up , perhaps of fear that they may displease/offend others?!

I know that offending others is not important in comparison to looking at geisha-like wedding photos for the erst of one's life but some girls may be hesitant to speak up.

I remember the first time I went to Morocco, I was so nervous of offending my in-laws, unaware of their culture etc. So they got this chick to come home an apply henna on my feet and hands. I hated it! I especially hated that they put the henna UNDER my feet (like on the soles etc?!) but I just kept shut. When I told my hubby I was unhappy he said "Why didn't you say" so from then on I just say what I want and no-one seems to bother. Eg. last summer we went to a wedding and my mum in law wanted me to wear a small crown . I said "no thank you , I'll just stick with the taksheta"

They are sweet but sometimes they can be overbearing in the grooming dept
