Hi everyone, Well as the topic states i want to know the correct way to say the name Aaliyah.

Is it A-LIE-YAH OR A-LEE-YAH....

My daughter is called Larissa and i find it VERY ANNOYING that people say it the American way LA-RI-SA rather than the Russian way ( eastern european) of LA-REE-SA. I am constantly correcting people.

Answers would be much appreciated as my baby is due in 6 days.

I seem to think that British people are abit thick when it comes to pronouncing foreign names.

By the way im Scottish so im not slandering anyone.

A-LEE-YAH... I'm British and most definitely not thick Another way I've heard it pronounced is AL-LEEYA/ AL-LIA, with the emphasis being on the first syllable.

Up to you, and congrats on the new addition.
