DVD Region setting, Help!

This is a question from someone else on another forum, but im experiencing the same problem. If anyone can shed a light on this it would be much appreciated.....

=======================================================

I have my DVD set for europe on my laptop. I also have American DVD's. When playing the American ones it only allows for 5 changes in the region setting. I tried to get around this by installing a different DVD player. No amount of installing and un-installing has helped.
Does it put something on my hard drive to not allow any changes to any players?
How can I get around this?
Would re-partioning my hard drive work?
Or do I need to install another hard drive?

DVD regions have nothing to do with drivers hard disks etc...

they are flashed on the hardware itself, get another DVD ROM drive for the region u're in
