Panda Software

How do I get rid of it???

I think I removed something by accident and lost the uninstaller - I have tried deleting the programme and also uninstaller software, but nothing works.

Any advice on what I can do, without doing a wipe?

Re : Panda

Not familiar with the software, but installing it again should allow you to uninstall it, if you can't find the original installer, then you're gonna need CClean - Click on Tools then you'd be able to remove entries in the add/remove programs list even if you don't have the installer.

Just google CClean or get it from downloads.com/ZDnet.com.

Make sure you stop the running program first, then hack out every bit of it out of your machine manually.

then get RegClean From Microsoft it's free, again just google it, this will remove dead registry links to files that no longer exist.

Remember to back up your data before you attempt this.

Hope this helps

peace out

Thanks a lot Trojan - I have tried finding panda titanium 2005 - but can't find it anywhere online.. The new one has just come out and when I have downloaded that one, it asks me to remove the old one (which I can't).

Also, I have tried to find CClean - but only found ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/ is it the same thing? if so, that did not work.. I have tried uninstalling it through add/remove.. but only an uninstaller software that I use, removed its presence from there.. but the programme file still remains in the computer and I can't delete it, because it still runs in the background (I can't stop it).

It is a nuisance because it runs and I have to wait a while (in that time I can boil a kettle, make a cup of tea, drink it and make another one...... ) before I can manually stop it from blocking my access to any sites and IM. It asks for a password I don't know, though I have tried to retrieve it, to no success, due to the site not recognising my email address, that I had originally used to download the programme.

How do I start the computer up in safe mode? that is the only option I have not tried yet.

BTW I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Get your Hacking Cap On...!!!

Hi There;

First Scan your system for viruses here, Backup your Important Files and settings on a CD or something..

Then try reverting back (system restore) to a time before you installed the software, that's if you're running winME or WinXP.

Then Try getting support from the people that made the software.

Remember to collect as much information as possible about the software, ie: the exact Version and Build Number, Your OS Version and Build, and General System Spec, and FileSystem type...

When you get nowhere doing that try:

Warning !!! The following Methods/Tools are For Advanced ... Desperate Users !!!, Sometimes It's Easier To Just Backup and Re-Install Windows, If for any Reason you Can't Then read on at your own risk ... I do not accept any responsibility for damage/profit loss encurred while following the procedure outlined below, All Software Included in this post is freeware and is supplied as is, I will accept no Liability for it's use, The software contains all documentation, and support sould be obtained from the developers directly, if you're sure that you have no other option then carry on...

For XP Only - Run CleanUP or DustBuster XP and remove all temp files and prefetch files etc...

Find the Process and kill it using this, if you know the location.

Else you need to use this, find the file you want to delete kill the processes locking it then delete it.

Once you've deleted all the files you want to delete, you need to Run CCleaner to empty all your temp files etc... or you can use Find Junk Files and remove dead links and so on, Back to CCleaner you need to run the Issues wizard, this will find dead links in your registry, Then use RegClean to finally sort out anything CCleaner leaves behind.

Also Dig a Bit further into your startup with this, and disable anything running from the same directory as the software you're trying to remove.

Get a Startup Monitor, this will help you see what changes are made to your registry at start up incase your removal failed.

Also get SpyBot Search and Destroy It's Not just for Spyware, Trojans etc.. it also has a very good Startup and Process monitor, Teatimer Module is to monitor Registry Runtime Changes.

Finally If you just can't get rid off it, Post your system specs here and I'll see what I can do, Don't bother with safe mode it's useless in this case.

post some screenshots also so i can get a better view of the problem.

Peace out

Knock yourself out!!!

Hope it helps, remember that information is far too general, as I don't know what your exact problem is, it should work on anything that gives you problems when you try to uninstall...

peace out

Hi Trojan - hope you read this, as I have not seen you about for ages! - Anyhow, recently, I was able to devote some time to this and have managed to get rid of panda and a really nasty virus! I used a file shredder to get rid of Panda! thanks a lot for your usual tips and links.
