I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and really like their tabbed browsing. I freely admit, though, that I'm far from the tech geek that you need an opinion from-- my brother (who is a tech geek!) hooked me up with it.

Many ppl like Firefox, I tried it once, as well as MSN, Netscape, Opera and others, but I couldn't get familiar with any of them! I'm used to my lovely IE with all its crap
You can find many interesting articles on many hi-tech stuff on this website: http://www.zdnet.com/

Re: reinstalling winXP

IMHO : the safest system is a system that you know everything action it does, having said that there are things that can be done to Microsoft windows to make it behave like it should (a True POSIX system), microsoft tends to put out unfinished products throw updates at you, then when there's a major problem they tend to include it in a new product that you'd have to buy.

Run XP as is, add Spybot S&D, Avast! or AVG antivirus, you need a registry monitor, a personal firewall or a router, Mozilla firefox is just as bad as IE nowadays so it still needs a little help, install all your hardware drivers, Run windows update but custom and read up on every update and what it does before you install it and only install what you want, remove ouloook express and remove MSN messenger, also remove IE if you don't want it, install an email client anything but outlook.
also people must stop using thier Admin account as thier main account, always use a limited account.

and to really stay safe install win9x, winMe or win2K on top of WinXp using QEMU, copy the guest image so you have a backup image, run the guest OS to surf and so on ..., if it does get messed up just make a copy from the Backup image to overwrite your original image.

you can use the guest OS to test your downloads also then tranfer them to your host OS if they're safe etc...

with QEMU you can run any guest OS on any Host OS, including on OSX.
To run OSX as a Guest OS you'll need PPC.

peace out
