*nix Utilities on Windows
Again I'm really sorry about the size of the screenshots, There's no way for me to set the size using vB code, may be the Site Admin can create a new tag for this.
This is a Simpler Approach to Running some of the usual Unix Commands Directly from The DOS Command Prompt hell it even comes with it's own Shell, You can download it from Here Now For it To Become even more useful U'll need to add the executables' Path to your Environment Variables: Right Click On My Computer, Select The Advanced Tab, Click on Environment Variables Button, Select Path From The Bottom Text Window, Then Click Edit add ;{pathtowhereyouunzippedtheabovefile}\unixutils\usr\local\wbin;{pathtowhereyouunzippedtheabovefile}\unixutils\bin To The End Of The Variable Value. Then Click OK For Example if U unzipped to C:\ Then ;C:\unixutils\bin;C:\unixutils\usr\local\wbin Commands available: Each of unix commands mormally has built in help just type the command without any parameters or use the --help or -h Flags. Some have Help files included and you can find all the help you need online. You Also Get 3 Shells that run on top of DOS Or on thier own, You get Bash, sh and zsh shells, Just type bash, sh or zsh and enter under DOS and you'll get a Unix Shell. Or double Click on bash.exe, sh.exe or zsh.exe for Unix Shells. Don't forget to ask questions here if you get any problems. we're here to help Peace out |
