I'll be moving to Morocco from US, and I'm trying to see if I'll need to change anything about my computer when I go. Obviously, I'll need a new power cord or adapter, but will I "fry" any critical parts if I do that? How easy is internet access? Will I be able to get internet access (especially high-speed) at my home? I have a laptop with a wireless router. Will any of this work? Will all of this work? Any advice will be appreciated!

You might try looking at the website of the manufacturer of your Laptop. That's where I would go first. As you stated, you will probably have to get a different power adapter/battery charger.

I'm guessing that you will have to get a different power adapter for your wireless router. Again, check the website of the manufacturer.

I don't know if they have broadband internet access through cable TV lines (very high-speed) like we have in the States, but they definately have DSL. Here's one company I found just for the hell of it:

I'm sure there are many more.

Let me know what you find out about all this, GingerSnap. I'm kinda curious myself.

Although I'd prefer cable, I can definitely live with DSL! When I get there, I'll let you know what I find.

For your laptop you need to buy an original new batterycharger, suitable for 220-240 volts. This can only come from the manufacturer, so it'll be wise to contact your supplier about this asap. It takes some time to order these things. And they are quite pricy.

From experience I can tell you that DSL is quite good and quite fair in price, in Morocco that is.
If you already have an existing landline, it takes max 15 days to get the connection established. There are many offers. My family has Menara as a provider. Basically it comes from Al Tissalat though The speed is good. No complaints there.

Check out http://www.menara.ma/abonne/adsl-promo.asp

Plein des promotions!
