Morocco among British tourists' first destinations in winter

London, Nov.25 - Morocco is among the first destinations of British tourists in winter, a period that witnesses a 25pc rise of Britons' reservations, according to report of the "Association of British Travel Agents" (ABTA), which noted that some 215,000 tourists are expected in 2005 in the north Africa kingdom.

ABTA, which held its annual meeting in Marrakech on November 23-27, is the UK's first Trade Association for tour operators and travel agents.

ABTA's 1052 tour operator and 6310 travel agency offices sold some 85% of UK holiday packages.

During the cold season in Europe, Britons opt mostly for the Middle East region and North Africa to spend new year holidays.

The number of British tourists reservations in winter rose by 151% in Jordan, 54% in Egypt and 27% in Tunisia.
