In times like these, I just think it reasonable to expect Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, UAE, and the like to be doing something generous to really help these poor and destitude people who have similar faith to theirs.

Yes, America do have homeless people: (1) Some are mentally imbalanced that they cannot maintain a home even if they get help. (2) Some are alcoholics and drug addicts who prefer to remain that way (homeless and roaming). (3) Strangely, a few chose to live homeless.

All these people get monthly checks from the government and that is why they can remain that way if they don't care about decency and dignity. Perhaps they don't care anymore.

Also there is a group of people who get temporarily homeless, but receive rehabilitation or job training and get off the streets after some time.

There are shelters for the homeless and many of the the people go to sleep through the night, get showers (if they like), and breakfast. In some areas the facilities are so stretched that the homeless are given help by priorities.
I’m sure you did not insinuate anything, how silly of me to have dared to think so. I am an American so there no need for you to go on explaining how things are around here. You are trying to paint a false picture implying that most of the cases you presented seem to have ended on the street despite help from the government, which we all know is not true. Many people do get help but thousands are left behind. The government does not take care of all of them. I live here; I know the facts.

There's an urban housing crisis and many people end up experiencing a rent squeeze. They pay rent that exceeds the government definition of affordable housing. Consequently over half of their income is devoted to rent and since the demand for low income housing exceeds the supply the cost of low cost rent increases. These people still have to eat, go to work, school and have some type of healthcare. So what do you think happens after a medical emergency or sudden unemployment?? Homelessness.

The affordable housing crisis is taking an increasing toll. On any given night, some 750,000 people are homeless; many more are “hidden homeless”, missed in varied counts. Over the course of a year, some 2 million people experience homelessness fro some period of time. More than one third of the homeless are families with children. (Collins, Leondar-Wright, and Sklar, 1999:38)

Statistics estimate that there are more than 100,000 homeless people in NY, 90,000 in LA and as many as 75,000 in Chicago to cite a few major cities

Are you sure all these people receive a check from the government?? Because if you truly believe that , I doubt you actually live in the USA.
