Climate and Weather of Morocco

How's the weather? Read below to check what kind of climate you can expect during your visit to Morocco.

Morocco has a Mediterranean climate that is generally hot and dry for most of the year, with cooler, yet still mild, temperatures and rainfall during the winter months between November and March. Many travellers consider spring – around April to May – to be the best time to visit this exotic country, as the weather is comfortably warm at that time. Morocco’s hottest months are July and August and this is a good time to visit the coastal regions, but inland and the desert routes can be excessively hot at this time of the year, especially at midday.

Morocco has widely varying terrain and the climate varies greatly depending on where you are. Temperatures can be incredibly high in the southern and south eastern desert areas. On the other hand, the temperature drops considerably in the higher lying mountainous areas, even dropping to freezing point at night. A Mediterranean climate supports vegetation which is able to withstand long, hot periods of drought conditions and evergreen trees such as cork oak, cedar and cypress as well as olive and argan trees are found in different regions of Morocco.

If you're planning a visit to Morocco, we suggest that you try and time your stay during the early summer months. You'll be guaranteed warm days and cool nights and your holiday is unlikely to be disrupted by rain.
