Les Folies de Marrakech - A Performance Like No Other

Morocco is a fascinating country and a very popular tourist destination. There is much for tourists to see and do as they travel through this diverse country, and friendly local inhabitants welcome visitors to enjoy their ancient traditions and rich culture. Something that visitors, as well as locals, do not expect to find in this predominantly Muslim country, is a French-style cabaret, but in early May 2008, Frenchman Claude Thomas launched “Les Folies de Marrakech” – a show which has all the grandeur of a world-class cabaret, while respecting the traditions of Islam.

Gnaoua and World Music Festival

The Gnaoua and World Music Festival is an annual event that is held in Essaouira, in Morocco. It is an event that the entire family will enjoy, and is known to be a friendly, festive and relaxed extravaganza of music, culture, entertainment and dance. Essaouira is located approximately a hundred and fifty kilometers outside Marrakech and this year, the Gnaoua and World Music Festival will be held between the 26th and 28th of June 2008. It is where local and international musicians and genres meet to create a festival that is unique in sound and vibrant in atmosphere.

Ancient Glory of Aghmat

The archaeological site known as “Joumaa Aghmat” in southern Morocco contains the remains of a Berber town that was prominent in the Sous region during medieval times. Situated on the Ourika road, about 30 kilometers east of Marrakech, Aghmat (or Ghmat) is an interesting tourist attraction to visit to gain insight into an aspect of the history of Morocco.
